Yesterday, I wrote a blog post regarding “2 Simple Ways to Gain Customer Loyalty” and ended it with a question – would anyone be interested in me writing about the psychology behind pricing and packages?
Immediately I got phone calls, text messages, tweets, facebook comments and etc. all expressing interest!
Side note: I’m going to Grace Ormonde‘s New York party hosted at The Plaza this week. I’m also hanging around for the opening of Bridal Market. All in all, Thursday to Sunday.
If you want to have a quick chat over drinks, please comment below and I’ll stick around.

Concerns
I will try to gather my thoughts on my flight tonight to New York, but I would appreciate your help! What are your concerns about pricing and packages?
I know that many of you shared some thoughts on my Facebook wall, but I’d like for you to post them here via comment.
Comment what you want to know via post (not Facebook) if you want private updates. I can’t have a private dialogue with those on Facebook because I won’t have your email.
It’s okay to repeat too. I will put more emphasis on more relevant topics.
Ask. Away. Below.
P.S. Pricing – there is no formula for what’s right or what’s wrong, but there are some techniques that are more effective than others. I will also focus on the psychological stimuli behind each premise. Fun stuff!
P.P.S. What are you worth? How do you get people to see that too?
P.P.P.S. It’s totally cool if you share this via Tweet or Facebook with your friends, so that I can get more input. Thanks in advance!

I know everybody goes to the pricing page first and then looks at the photography on the website to see the photography second. I have my starting price on my website so people know what the minimum is they can expect in regard to pricing. Prices in the Netherlands are no way near to what I see on US sites. Pricing of about 1000 euro here is seen as expensive whereas I see photographers in the States with starting prices ranging from 3000 dollar and up.
But what are my concerns? Well I do not know what to include and what to leave out. Should I package or offer a la cart? As engagements shoots are not common in the Netherlands I include an engagement shoot in my package and offer the high res photographs for both engagement and wedding. I can I stand out not only buy my photography but also with my prices without scaring potential clients away?
I have to ditto Chuck. He expressed exactly the questions I have.
Lawrence, thanks for taking the time to share your insights!
Cheers,
Joseph
I am curious where or when the answers will be posted?
Thanks,
August
I’m in a strange place pricing wise, just starting out. I’m apparently either too cheap or too expensive. Which way to go now, up or down, I don’t know! All I know is I’m the wrong price now.
Pricing can be such a crap shoot until your business gets settled. I find it the hardest thing about photography. I find that networking with peers via my professional organization helps with finding a starting point for my pricing.
